Coffee beans selection
Like wine, there are various coffee flavours. Some have a strong acidity, some are fruity, some are sweeter, and some have a chocolate-like flavour. A smooth flavoured coffee with a moderate acidity and a light and refreshing finish. Using Brazilian beans as a base, two other types of beans have been blended to form an overall mild flavour. Ideal for those who like their coffee prepared in a filter or plunger.
A sweet aroma with a rich flavour; a strong type of blend.Strong Blend uses Columbian beans as a base plus two other types of beans. A good balance of sweet and bitter flavours with a light acidity. Good for espressos and those who like it strong. Suitable for those who like a bite in their coffee, this is a classic tasting acidic blend. It has a rich and sweet fragrance with a satisfying flavour. For those who have low blood pressure, this coffee is especially good at helping you wake up in the mornings. It originates from Guatemala, south of Mexico, which has a long history of coffee harvest. The German settlers introduced it in the 1850s. Guatemala SHB are top quality beans that have been harvested on high places above 1350m. Beans that have been harvested on high altitudes have a stronger aroma, acidity, and a fuller body compared to those harvested in lower altitudes. This coffee has a smooth body and sweet flavour, with a fruity plum-like aroma. Overall, its soft acidity is well balanced with its flavour and aroma. Its clean, refreshing aftertaste is also something to savour.These beans are from Papua New Guinea. Originally, it is thought that the coffee plants were imported from Jamaica (the origin of Blue Mountain coffee), and that’s why it has also been called PNG Blue Mountain in the past. Only ripe cherries are hand picked, washed three times, dried, taken through a machine-operated gravity discrimination process, and hand sorted. This has resulted in perfection; it is a beautiful coffee. This coffee has a great deal of personality. With its strong acidic taste and full-bodied flavour, its taste fills your mouth and the fruity sweet aroma is heavenly. The fullness of flavour has a relaxing quality. This is a great coffee to help you unwind.The coffee’s origin is Kenya, Africa – the home of some truly superb coffee. As the grades are distinguished by the size of the beans, this coffee is the best of the best, as AA denotes a large sized bean. A brilliant, sweet aroma and a rich-bodied flavour characterise this coffee. You will enjoy the aftertaste of this coffee with its refreshing acidity, moderate body and rich flavour. However, the aftertaste is not overpowering, and this makes them essential for using in blends. These beans originated in Columbia, South America. Columbia is known for being the second largest coffee producing nation after Brazil and it has a steady trade. It is named Colombian Mild (which includes Kenyan and Tanzanian beans) and is traded for high prices. Supremo (which means supreme or high quality in Spanish) indicates that the beans are large beans above ‘screen 17’. This coffee is characterised by its clear, chocolate aftertaste. It is popular for its bitterness, rich aroma, and its classic flavour. Brazil is number one in the world for its coffee production. Within Brazil, Cerado is known for its highest quality coffee production and is differentiated from Brazilian coffee as ‘Cerado coffee’. This is an exquisite coffee with the balance of a nutty aroma, a hearty acidity, and an appropriate amount of bitterness. Rich in aroma, it has a refreshing taste and it is enjoyably sweet. Coffee in East Timor is grown in high altitudes (above 1200m), and it is grown organically, using natural farming techniques, without the use of modern farming techniques and chemicals. It is a fair trade coffee, where the coffee beans are carefully picked by the local farmers and dried under the sun without using machines. Sun drying the beans further enhances the flavour of the coffee beans. |
